Pet-Proofing for Summer: Keep Them Cool & Covered

Because your pets are family, too.

When the Kansas heat hits, our furry friends feel it just as much—if not more—than we do. While you’re reaching for the sunscreen and iced tea, they’re relying on you to keep them safe. Here's how to make sure your pets stay happy, healthy, and protected all summer long:

☀️ Beat the Heat:

  • Always provide fresh water and plenty of shade—especially for outdoor pets.
  • Never leave pets in a parked car. Even a few minutes can be dangerous.
  • Watch for signs of overheating: heavy panting, excessive drooling, lethargy, or vomiting.

🌿 Mind the Yard:

  • Keep an eye out for toxic plants, fertilizers, and insecticides.
  • Check fences and gates for loose spots if your pets like to explore.
  • Secure pool areas—many pets can’t swim, even if they’re curious!

🦴 And Don’t Forget:
Pet insurance can be a lifesaver when unexpected vet bills come calling. From heatstroke to bee stings, summer brings a whole new set of risks. If you’ve been wondering whether it’s worth it, we’d be happy to help you weigh your options.
